Core Values of Catholic Education in Macao

引言 · Introduction

天主教會（包括澳門教區及各修會團體）對澳門教育發展發揮起領導性的影響力，為回應時代變遷與教育實況，教區與教育團體經過一段時間的深度討論與共同研議，確立了「澳門天主教學校教育的核心價值」，為本地天主教學校提供清晰的教育藍圖與培育方向，並持續以天主教教義為根本，令天主教教育能與時俱進，積極回應莘莘學子的全面發展需要。

The Catholic Church (including the Diocese of Macao and all local religious orders) has long played a leading role in the development of education in Macao. In response to the evolving educational landscape and the needs of our times, the Diocese and Catholic educational communities have spent significant time in discernment and collaboration to establish the Core Values of Catholic Education in Macao Catholic Schools. These values serve as a clear blueprint for Catholic schools in the region, guiding their mission and educational direction. Rooted in Catholic doctrine, they enable schools to remain responsive and relevant while nurturing the holistic development of students in all dimensions of life.

基礎信念 · Foundational Belief

「澳門天主教學校教育的核心價值」以耶穌基督作為一切價值觀的泉源與基礎。天主教教育的最終目的，是引領人更貼近耶穌基督肖似基督，並活出祂所教導和示範的真生命。耶穌基督曾說過「我是道路、真理、生命」（若14︰6），天主教學校的使命，是讓每一位持分者能夠在日常生活與學習中，不斷與基督相遇、相識、相親，進而在個人成長與社群互動中活出祂的精神與教導。當學校真正以基督為中心、以下面介紹的3V為核心價值引導教學與校園生活，就能營造出充滿「真、善、美、聖」的教育氛圍。

The Core Values of Catholic Education place Jesus Christ at the centre as the unchanging source and foundation of all values. The ultimate goal of Catholic education is to draw individuals closer to Jesus, to be like Jesus; and to help them live the true life He taught and exemplified. Jesus declared, “I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6), the mission of Catholic schools is to provide an environment where all stakeholders may encounter, come to know, and grow in relationship with Christ in their daily lives and learning journeys. When a school truly places Christ at the center and shapes its education and school life around the three core values (3V) explained below, it naturally fosters a school culture marked by truth, goodness, beauty and holiness.

三層結構的核心框架 · Three-Layered Framework

「澳門天主教學校教育的核心價值」教育建構，採用了三層遞進的方式：
The Core Values of Catholic Education in Macao are built upon a three-layered structure:

第一層「不變的泉源與根基」：耶穌基督本人，是一切價值與教育方向的起點。

First Layer - The Unchanging Foundation: Jesus Christ Himself is the ultimate source and starting point of all educational values and directions.

第二層「3V作為核心」：依據耶穌的說話，確立三個不可更改的核心價值方向：

• 道路（Via）：關乎人與人、人與天主的愛與關係

• 真理（Veritas）：關乎尋求知識、智慧與明辨善惡

• 生命（Vita）：關乎珍惜生命、家庭、社會與萬物

Second Layer - 3V as the Core: Drawing from Christ’s words, the framework defines three non-negotiable core directions:

• The Way (Via): Focused on love and relationship, with others and with God

• The Truth (Veritas): Pursuing knowledge, wisdom and discerning good and evil

• The Life (Vita): Cherishing the dignity of life, family, society, and all creation

第三層「十二項行為建議」：由3V分別引申出共十二個具體行動，作為學生在校園生活中可見可行且重複實踐的善行 – 即德行。每項行動皆體現出三超德（信、望、愛）與四樞德（智、義、勇、節）的部份德行。此外，現時列出的十二行為建議具靈活性，各校可依據自身校訓、辦學精神與學生特質加以調整、補充或深化，並選擇每年重點推行項目。將來亦預計需要根據社會環境的變化而修改，唯須保留基督為基礎、三V為核心的最高層架構。

Third Layer - Twelve Actionable Behaviours: From these three pillars emerge twelve specific visible, repeatable good deeds - virtues that students are encouraged to live out throughout school life. These actions embody the three theological virtues (faith, hope, charity) and the four cardinal virtues (prudence, justice, courage, temperance). The list of twelve actions is intended as a flexible reference. Schools may adjust, append, or deepen them based on their own mottos, founding charisms, and student contexts. They may also choose to emphasise particular behaviours each school year. These behaviours may also evolve over time in response to social developments, but the foundation in Jesus Christ and the 3V framework must remain unchanged.

As mentioned above, the current list of twelve actions is intended as a mere suggestion. Schools may choose which to adopt or append to the list according to their own judgement. We also welcome provision of actions to include in future adjustments through filling in the following form.
