MOU signed between C.D.E.C. and Macau Association
for the Promotion of Artificial Intelligence Education
A memorandum of understanding (MOU) aimed at jointly promoting Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) curricula and popularizing the use of A.I. in local education and teaching has been signed between the Diocesan Catholic Education Commission (Comissão Diocesana da Educação Católica, C.D.E.C) and Macau Association for the Promotion of Artificial Intelligence Education. The MOU was signed on 17 March 2022 on behalf of the two parties by Mr. Stephen Chan Teng Fong, Office Director of the C.D.E.C., and Mr. Jin Xin, Chairman of Macau Association for the Promotion of Artificial Intelligence Education.
The signed MOU defines the scope of the planned collaboration between the two parties, including development of teaching materials, compilation of multiple curricula with their essential equipment, as well as the structure of teachers’ training, so as to integrate intelligent teaching aids and innovative education into existing pedagogies. The collaboration then sees a series of outreach approaches for schools to encourage their students to actively participate in A.I. learning programmes that incorporate smart technologies to enhance the effectiveness of learning.
The Artificial Intelligence Education Centre was opened in late February
Following the MOU signing, both parties will set out to discuss individual projects to realise their common vision, in hope of further assisting local schools to equally develop in all four sectors of "smart education", namely individualised target teaching; guided self-learning; smart assessment; and innovative education. It is anticipated that through the A.I. Education Centre (Learning Laboratory) established by the Macau Association for the Promotion of Artificial Intelligence Education, the two parties can contribute together in laying the foundation for schools to “go smart”, as well as in developing students' literacy skills for the 21st Century.
