The Macau Diocesan Commission for Life and the Diocesan Catholic Education Commission have once again partnered with the University of Saint Joseph to offer the "Theology of the Body" Training Programmes for Religious Subject Teachers, running from October 2024 to June 2025. This year’s programmes consist of two levels: the Core and the Enhanced Initiation. A total of 59 participants, comprising middle and senior management as well as subject teachers from 14 Catholic schools - 8 Diocesan and 6 Religious-Order operated schools – have been admitted. The Core programme retains 17 participants from previous years, while the Enhanced Initiation programme welcomes 42 new participants to the Theology of the Body.

The Core Training Programme builds on the teaching and material development progress made over the past three years, aiming to further deepen participants' understanding and classroom application of the Theology of the Body. The organisers hope to equip teachers with the ability to inspire students' curiosity about the transcendentals—truth, goodness, and beauty—thus guiding them to make life-affirming choices. Led by the Most Revered Bishop Stephen Lee, the lecturers Dr. Francis Chan Nai-Kwok and Dr. Peter Ho Man-Hong will guide participants in refining their teaching plans on the Theology of the Body, allowing them to deliver these lessons across more school levels in religious education.

The Enhanced Initiation Training Programme this year, also solely delivered by the Most Reverend Bishop, offers a comprehensive and in-depth learning platform for teachers new to the concepts of the Theology of the Body. The lessons cover basic ethics and key elements of the Theology of the Body, with a special focus on St. John Paul II’s teachings and values. Through a systematic learning approach, participants will re-examine key topics such as the body, love, gender relations, and marriage from a Catholic perspective, thereby facilitating a more effective promotion of the Theology of the Body in schools.

Both programmes aim to cultivate teachers with a solid theoretical foundation and practical skills, ensuring that they not only understand the core values of the Theology of the Body but also effectively integrate these concepts into their everyday teaching. The goal is to help participants guide students to recognise the dignity and value of the body, contributing to the formation of a new generation with sound values and healthy personalities.
