Following the signing of co-operation agreements with Escola dos Moradores de Macau and Colégio Diocesano de São José (5a), the Wushu General Association of Macau (AAMCM) has now signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Colégio Diocesano de São José to support students' dual development in both academics and sports, with a particular focus on nurturing young talents in Chinese martial arts (Wushu).

The signing ceremony took place at 1:30 p.m. on 3 April 2025 at the hall of the Colégio Diocesano de São José (3o). Distinguished guests in attendance included Mr. Chan Weng Kit de Noronha, President of the Asian Wushu Federation and President of the AAMCM; Mr. Ng Teng Chio, Principal of Colégio Diocesano de São José; Dr. Stephen Chan Teng Fong, Director of the Diocesan Catholic Education Commission; Mr. Iao Chon In, Vice President of the AAMCM and Head Coach of the Taolu Training Team; Mr. Qin Zhijian, Director of the AAMCM and Head Coach of the Sanda Training Team; Mr. Leong Hong Man, Coach of the Taolu Training Team; Mr. Wang Chuan Le, Coach of the Sanda Training Team; Fr. Leonard E Dollentas, Vice Principal of Colégio Diocesano de São José; and Dr. Au Chi Kun, Principal of Escola de Santa Madalena.

During the ceremony, students from the school gave a Wushu performance to showcase their training progress. The event reached its highlight with an impressive demonstration by Mr. Song Chi Kuan, a member of the Macau Wushu team and bronze medallist in Changquan at the Hangzhou Asian Games. Mr. Chan Weng Kit de Noronha stated that since launching the "Wushu in Schools" and youth training programmes last year in collaboration with Escola dos Moradores de Macau and Colégio Diocesano de São José (5a), the Association has been committed to expanding student opportunities in sports and academics. He emphasised that as local schools increasingly prioritise holistic student development and society recognises the success of the Association’s youth training initiatives, this deepened collaboration would provide better resources and platforms for students to pursue their dreams. He added that the long-term goal remains to cultivate outstanding athletes who can bring pride to Macau.

Principal Mr. Ng Teng Chio affirmed the school’s dedication to promoting Chinese cultural heritage and acknowledged the cultural values embodied in Wushu. He noted that students participating in competitions or training would benefit from flexible academic arrangements, including adjusted assessments and official leave recognised as public absences, allowing them to manage both training and schoolwork without undue pressure. He also expressed hope for broader cooperation with the Association in promoting traditional Chinese culture and supporting promising student-athletes with tangible resources.

Mr. Leong Hong Man, Head of Wushu Promotion at the Association, highlighted that three schools have already formalised partnerships with the Association in 2025 alone, reflecting the growing recognition and support for Wushu development in the educational sector. He reiterated the Association’s aim to create a balanced environment for athletes to manage academics, family, and training, and to further identify and develop young talents, reinforcing Macau’s sporting strength through a more structured talent pipeline.

Several students also shared their experiences in learning Wushu. Among them was Primary Five student Zeng Jing Chen, who has been training for five years. He expressed his deep interest in Wushu and shared that, despite the challenges, he always makes time to complete his homework and train. He aspires to achieve strong results in future competitions and represent Macau with distinction.
