此訓令由教延信理部於2008年9月8日發出，因應醫學研究領域中的道德問題為1987年2月22日公佈的《生命的恩賜》訓令作出補充。

This Instruction issued by the Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith on 8 September 2008 aimed at providing further clarification concerning bioethical issues under recent medical researches in supplement to the Instruction "Donum Vitae" issued on 22 February 1987.
