The Macau Diocesan Commission for Life and the Diocesan Catholic Education Commission continue to collaborate with the University of Saint Joseph to organise two programmes for the formation of religious subject teachers from October 2023 to June 2024. Both the initiation and core programmes aimed to enhance understanding and pedagogical application of the Theology of the Body. The programmes were successfully concluded in June 2024, bringing a time of thanksgiving and joy for the participants who achieved positive results in the relevant field.
Under the directives of the Most Reverend Bishop Stephen Lee, and in collaboration with Dr. Francis Chan Nai-Kwok, Dr. Peter Ho Man-Hong, and Therapist Ms. Florença Chong, the Core Programme provided a wealth of content for participants to master the application of Theology of the Body and the “Emmaus Pedagogy”, enabling the development of teaching plans for all education levels and guided practical application in religious lessons. Although the core participants met with a variety of challenges, they all demonstrated professionalism, creativity, and perseverance, showcasing the presence of the love of God. As shared by one participant, "The programme taught me the true meaning of the theology of the body, that our body is a gift, a beautiful education for witnessing God's communion and love, which purifies the fallacies of contemporary sexual trends." Another participant said, "It was a precious experience to get to know some fellow religious subject teachers from other schools, exchange ideas, learn from each other, and gradually build up friendships."

The Initiation Programme, based on the Theology of the Body of St. John Paul II, was instructed solely by the Most Reverend Bishop himself. The programme included ethical case studies, theoretical lectures, and the study of relevant textbooks and literature of the Holy Church. Group discussions and presentations facilitated exchanges and learning among participants. These lessons guided participants to reflect deeply on the true meaning of the body, sexuality, male-female relationships, and marriage, enhancing their understanding of the topics and laying a foundation for future teaching. In the concluding lesson, a participant expressed that the programme had enhanced his understanding of the theology of the body. He had also learnt that the physical body indeed reveals the mystery of the Most Holy Trinity, that is, to reveal the invisible God through the visible body.

The two programmes attracted a total of 33 religious subject teachers from nine diocesan schools and three Catholic schools operated by various religious orders. All of them successfully completed the programmes and were awarded certificates of completion. The organisers hope that through these programmes, messages from the Theology of the Body could be disseminated in local Catholic schools by teachers who are willing to bear the responsibility, especially under this era of challenges, allowing more students to truly understand the beauty of the body and sexuality, dispel their inner doubts, and be guided onto the path of love and life.
